This is the blog of Brooks Andrus. Here, at irregular intervals, you may find digital noise centered around the activities of an early 21st century technologist. I work for TechSmith Corporation, but this web space and the views found on it are entirely my own.

Hi Brooks,
I've been struggling with editing Camtasia in FCPx for sometime and just found your post. Unfortunately even after following your explicit directions I still receive the error about Quicktime not being able to open the file. I'm using Camtasia for Mac v2.2.2 and OSX 10.8.2. Is there any way of contacting you perhaps to obtain further assistance?
Regards,

[Fred] - Thanks for kind words. I'm glad you enjoy the tutorials.

Yes, you can do this with Camtasia Studio 7. You'll need to set up the Camtasia Recorder to create an .avi file rather than a .camrec and then you're good to go.

After Effects on the PC is slightly problematic for me given that I don't have a license for it on that platform and my Windows computers are pretty long in tooth. That said, you shouldn't have any problem applying watching my AE tutorials and doing the same thing on the PC. AE's interface is consistent across platforms. The only thing that's sometimes different are the keyboard shortcuts.

Requests for tutorials are always welcome, though it may take me awhile to get them cranked out--I've got a day job after all. ;-)

Brooks,

Your tutorials are very helpful and totally awesome. Is there a way to do this using Camtasia Studio 7 and Windows 7?

Keep them tutorials coming and thanks for taking time to share them with others. I would like to see some more on After Effects on the PC if you are taking tutorial suggestions.

@Matt - Thanks, you're too kind. ;-) One thing to keep an eye out for is that the audio is actually recorded in a separate MOV container which you need to import in along with the video. Hope all is well in the Pacific Northwest.
