Camtasia Studio ExpressShow Source Code Now Available

Last week a link was quietly dropped on the TechSmith website which includes the ActionScript 2 source code and graphical assets for Camtasia Studio’s ExpressShow Flash playback wrapper. This package allows Flash developers to the customize look / feel and behavior of the playback controls, hotspots, quizzing and captioning for Camtasia Studio 5.x ExpressShow screencasts. Instructions for compiling and using the new wrapper with Camtasia Studio are included in the zip. If you end up creating a custom skin or adding some cool behavior leave a link to a screenshot or screencast.

@John Hubert – Sounds like you’re using the “One Video” template. There isn’t currently any user configuration that allows you to change the color of that bar (its a graphical asset).

If you were using ExpressShow, you could download the project from the link in this post and then customize to your hearts content (provided you have the Flash authoring tool).

What color are you trying to make the “blue bar” and what are you trying to do with the “Question” text?

    Hi Brooks,

Ive been trying to tinker with the express show source code….got a hold on graphical assets, even managed to change some of the code to customize the table of contents. But one thing which still has me stumped is that I cannot find an option to change the color of text in the table of contents. Ive searched high and low everywhere…but to no avail :(

Any idea on how can I achieve this?

    Thanks

I found this article when digging around to try and find ways to edit the look and feel of the flash player controls for Camtasia Studio 6. The file structure seems to be slightly different for 6 though as I cannot find the file ‘camtasia_resources.swf’ anywhere. Would you know of any tutorials or guides on editing the flash player controls for version 6 or have any of your own advice for going about this task? Thanks in advance for any help!! I appreciate all of the useful articles you have posted and they’ve definitely saved me a lot of time. Cheers!!
