Coherence–Parallels blurs lines between host and virtual os

As many of you no doubt are aware, Parallels has released a new beta build with a wicked cool feature known as coherence. Coherence allows the virtual desktop to interact with the native desktop in a fairly seamless manner. This short screencast (30 seconds) gives a small taste of the “coherent” feel Parallels brings to running Windows on Mac OS X.

    how’s the performance of Coherence compared to Parallels in non-coherence mode?

    Seems to perform well–I do notice a lag at times that doesn’t seem to be there when running in fullscreen or windowed mode, but the drag and drop capabilities in addition to coherence make the workflow back and forth between OS X and Windows so much easier that overall its a huge plus.

    I was daring enough to use my Boot Camp partition with it… and it’s pretty freaking sweet. I LOVE dragging SCORM 1.2 content packages from my Mac desktop put together with Reload into my Boot Camp desktop… and then using Coherence to run the SCORM Conformance Test Suite while rocking out to my iTunes library.

    I can’t wait for performance tweaks to speed it up even more. But so far it’s pretty fast and stable. Those guys at Parallels did a great job!
